Te Puna Mauri O Oamaru – Ruawai Solar Farm (Northpower)

Venturing into new opportunities with Northpower, we delivered the mechanical and module installation for the Ruawai Solar Farm, an exciting milestone project. Spanning 20 hectares, this development will bring clean energy to 3,000 Northland homes, strengthening the region’s energy resilience.

Scope: Deliver Mechanical and Module Build for Solar Farm

Project Highlights:

  • Our team of up to 26 completed the mechanical and module build for Northpower’s first solar farm, utilising the Next Tracker System
  • The mechanical build involved installing 3,768 piles and 3,354 torque tubes, each weighing up to 140 kg
  • 25,312 solar modules were installed, in challenging site conditions 

Key Achievements:

  • Created local employment, training 26 newcomers to the industry
  • 70% of the team came from previously unemployed backgrounds
  • Engaged youth: 4 team members were under 19 years old
  • Developed a strong, skilled team ready for future projects
  • Received high praise from Next Tracker for the quality of our build

The Ruawai Solar Farm project highlights a new capability in our organisation, to deliver large-scale renewable energy builds. We successfully managed complex mechanical and module builds under challenging conditions, achieving high-quality standards. Additionally, our commitment to local workforce development allowed us to train and integrate new talent, building a strong, skilled team ready for future projects.
